Envisioning AUCE as an ONA Organization

The Church is undergoing a paradigm shift. Can you feel it? The "way it's always been done before" does not seem to be working as comfortably as it used to. The Coordinating Committee of the Association of United Church Educators has begun conversation based on our observations as educators in the church.

The AUCE Coordinating Committee has initiated a study process to look at the possibility of becoming an Open and Affirming organization in the United Church of Christ. We are encouraging individual study of the Open and Affirming process by looking at specific resources and engaging in conversation with each other.

United Church of Christ Christian educators are in a unique position in the church to support ONA. We reach a wide variety of people in our congregations. Here is a sample of actions we can take:

	Promote the ONA Study Packet and other ONA resources.
	Help our teachers and leaders to become educators for ONA
	Help the church be a place of safety and care while our youth are exploring their sexuality.
