Same Gender Marriage: A Study Guide

for Youth Groups and Campus Ministries

This new resource, prepared by the Youth and Young Adult Program of the UCC Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Concerns, is a compilation of several helpful informational pieces that can be assembled for use in a variety of ways. Depending on the time available, the particular setting, and the needs and characteristics of the learners, the educator can pick and choose from several related sections to custom-design a program of study. Components include permission forms, a covenant, a glossary of terms, and handout sheets. There are articles written by pastors and youth, gay and straight, and include resolutions and statements from national entities of the United Church of Christ. Eight pages of discussion points are provided in outline form that serve as a sequential guide for unfolding the discussion in a helpful and workable order. A solid and accessible bibliography of print and web resources completes this resource.

It is suggested that these resources be used for youth groups and campus ministry gatherings. There is enough material for one to five sessions, and it can be adapted for retreat settings as well.
